Each week combines psychological flexibility, mindful awareness, identity practice, experiential work, and one concrete action between sessions.
ACT helps you notice thoughts, feelings, cravings, and urges without automatically obeying them. Spiritual Self-Schema (3-S / SSS) helps you recognize the automatic identity pattern being activated and intentionally strengthen a compassionate, values-guided way of being.
You can repeat, reorder, or spend more than one week on a module. The app can support recovery work, but it does not replace professional care, emergency services, or direct communication with your treatment team.
Learn the ACT and Spiritual Self-Schema ideas used throughout the 12-week program. You do not need to memorize them—come back whenever a term is unfamiliar.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
ACT is a behavioral therapy focused on psychological flexibility: learning to notice thoughts, feelings, memories, urges, and body sensations without letting them automatically run your behavior. Instead of waiting to feel perfectly comfortable, ACT helps you make room for inner experience, reconnect with what matters, and take workable action in that direction.
The six ACT processes: acceptance, cognitive defusion, present-moment awareness, self-as-context (the Observing Self), values, and committed action.
Spiritual Self-Schema Therapy / Spiritual Self-Schema (3-S)
SSS focuses on becoming aware of the self-patterns or schemas that activate automatically, especially under stress, and deliberately strengthening a different pattern that is consistent with compassion, recovery, and the person's own spiritual or ethical path. Repeated awareness and practice help the chosen self-schema become easier to access in everyday life.
In Clarity Recovery, spiritual does not have to mean religious. You can use language that fits you—Recovery Self, Wise Self, Spiritual Self, Compassionate Self, or another personally meaningful name.
ACT asks: “What is showing up inside me, and can I relate to it differently enough to choose what I do next?” SSS asks: “What automatic self-pattern is active, and which qualities of self do I want to strengthen through my next behavior?” Together they turn awareness into a practical recovery choice.
About this program: Clarity Recovery integrates ACT principles with concepts adapted from the Spiritual Self-Schema (3-S) Development Program. It is an integrated Clarity program, not a reproduction of the official 3-S treatment manual.
This does not require religion. Choose language that fits you: Spiritual Self, Wise Self, Recovery Self, Compassionate Self, or your own name for it.
The familiar state that tends to take over under stress. Naming it is about awareness—not shame.
This is not a perfect version of you. It is the set of qualities you intentionally rehearse when life gets hard.
